Free on Friday 22nd December 2017

Oh my, we are so close to Christmas Day and I haven't begun to tidy the house!  I can't find the dogs vaccination records so having gone through the rest of the house, I wondered if they were in my craft-room by mistake.  So nearly a week ago I started going through things, which turned into a bit of a change around and sort out, so no crafting has been done!  I have nearly finished and I think I will have more work space.  Also I was having to stand up to use my Scan N Cut and was getting backache, so now that is on my work top which should make it less of a pain to use :)

We went to see my grandson's Christmas concert as the class are are around three years there was plenty of aahs :)  I have been playing online maths games with my grand daughter where she had to work out the sums before the robot got caught by the baddies.  There were plenty of squeals from both of us!

Tomorrow I am making gingerbread biscuits, finishing off my craft room -still haven't found the dogs vaccination records :(  and hopefully do a little tidying.

Here are your freebies for today, may I wish you all a very Happy Christmas and a Happy and healthy New Year xx

Christmas Cards and a tutorial of sorts.

When I say "a tutorial of sorts" I mean it's very short.  It's to show you how turn a paper you don't like into something fabulous.  What I wanted to do was cut out some Christmas tree shapes.  I started with the paper on the left, I just don't care for it, but the paper quality is good.  I used an embossing folder and then used a sandpaper block to take off the top surface, but I still wasn't happy, so I turned it over and brushed on two colours of Metallic Gilding Polish.  Now I was happy!   I cut out my Christmas tree shapes and the Merry Christmas adding the gilding polish to that as well.  I thought they were fabulous!

I put the rest of the card together and wanted to use the bauble diecut but it was the wrong colour and I didn't feel the shape of the trees fitted in with the rest of the design.  So I trimmed my Christmas trees to give them more of a tree shape and used purple gilding polish so they matched the bauble.  Then I had to change the colour on the Merry Christmas, I used gold and cream.  Finally adding some gold to the background and the gold bow.

So if you have paper you don't like - do something with it, especially if it good quality.  You can even stamp images on the back if it is white.

This week I have made several Christmas cards using fabric images that I have had cut out for ages.  The snowman below was on the edge of the fabric and therefore had a piece missing.  I cut out a shape for the base and covered that with fabric to make a snow globe :)

Free on Saturday

Welcome to Crafting With Jack  I have a free bird digital stamp for you today and a couple of recent cards.  The one above was for my husband's birthday (sorry not a very good picture) and the one below for my son's birthday.  I did the card below in shiny card and they change colour as they act like a mirror.

This was the inside.

I hope you like this bird and have fun colouring him in.   He is from a vintage picture and he was looking down into the water.  My husband made a new bird house feeder and as we have snow here, the birds have been flocking to it.  Normally it takes a while for them to become accustomed to a new feeder, but they have taken to this one very quickly.

Christmas Rocking Horse

I saw this picture in a craft magazine and thought I would like to have a go at this.   The horse was available from a shop called The Works, but when I tried to get it they were sold out.  I decided to make my own!  First I looked for inspiration, I found this cute rocking horse:

I liked the general shape, but changed some details as you can see:

I scanned the printed image into my Scan N Cut and cut out the shapes, I got 4 from a 12 x 12 paper.  The paper I used was quite a thick paper.  I realized I would have to use several layers for thickness and ended up with two sets of five layers which I then glued together to the red line.    By putting the paper in with the plain side showing it was easy to cut out the reverse shape for the backs.  Once assembled a short strip placed between the rockers kept them the right distance apart to stand up.

The wooden rocking horse would have been more stable than mine and I found balance an issue if I added too much.  However I was really pleased with how it turned out and have several sets cut to make some more :)

There are lots of free rocking horse pictures on the internet, some of these would be easy to cut out by hand.

See you on Friday x

2CraftyCritterCrazies and The Outlawz challenges

I have just scraped in with these two entries for challenges.  The first one is for the November Progressive Challenge at "The Outlawz".  The image is given free each month.  I love working digitally, I added a textured paper because I do love to add texture and a background from an ATC mixed media painting that I had photographed.  This is the background

You can just see the pattern in the moon!

This is my design for "CraftyCritterCrazies"  The image is from
Sasayaki Glitter and is called "Tea Mouse"

Another digital picture.  This mouse is so cute!  I used the Sponge filter to give it a vintage feel.  I made the background from two paint sprays that I made and photographed.  The Challenge at 2CraftyCritterCrazies starts on 1st December there are some lovely cards from the design team.

I have also been very busy in my craft room, more about that tomorrow x

Free on Friday 24 November 2017

Welcome to another Free on Friday at Crafting With Jack.  My husband is decorating this week so downstairs is in a bit of a mess!  It is surprising how long it takes shifting things from one room to another.  The big dresser in the dining room houses all my Christmas houses and musical ornaments so at the moment they are displayed in front of the TV.  Maybe I will leave them out now and put in the batteries :)

I tend to go off in the middle of something and start something else - a really bad habit of mine :(  I am half way through a lot of things and I started several new things tonight!   Here are some Christmas Ornaments for you that I finished this evening.

Now after doing these I should have done my post, but I wanted to show you the last flower in my garden, which has braved the wind and the rain lately.  It is the last of my pond plants to flower this year.  It had two flowers, one red and this very pale pink one.

I took several photographs, one I used for the card below.  I used the graphic pen filter in Photoshop Elements for the photograph and then gave a pink tint to it.

Did you manage to get any Black Friday deals?  I got rather fed up with looking this morning!  Have a great weekend x
